And here we are at Thanksgiving week. I always want a gratitude poem for this time of year, and I was glad when a friend with her own poetry box shared this one.
Praise and gratitude walk hand in hand. So let’s do a little praising, do a little thanking. And let’s eat some pie.
(If you like a little lyricism with your pie, listen to Eat Pie: A Manifesto for a Happy Life by my friend and former student Amanda Hickey, whose words and voice have earned the love—the praise! the gratitude!—of thousands.)
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
“Praise what little there’s left:
the small boats of milkweed pods, husks, hulls,
shells, the architecture of trees. ”
